Add photos to layout

Feedback from BrickWorld- add a photo view to the layout like we did for the LGMS BrickWorld layout.
a few people think this would be useful.
People seem to be confused about 2D top down view versus 3D view, and the ability to rotate the model to see a front view. Adding pictures might satiate their needs..
Note: Not sure if this would pair with notes that could be added or if this would be a separate feature/bubble/pop up thing

Example of what this looks like to a public viewer: https://app.bricklayouts.com/BtedUKs7
The limitation on this is an interface and storage space for uploading pictures.. or partnering with another platform to allow pictures to be uploaded there (like BrickShelf?)

Your example show pictures of larger sections of the layout. I was tinking it would be individual buildings more at the baseplate level. Maybe that is just a variation. In any case, this works.
As far as storage goes, I know you have a collaborative model in mind but for individual users couldn’t storage be at the local/device level. I can’t imagine anyone realistically using a phone but this would work for a desktop/laptop/IPad.

John Robert Klesh: Hey John. Local storage is possible, it just means the layout files will have the images embedded in them. So the more images in a layout, the larger the file will get that you are storing locally. I just need to figure out the user interface to let people switch between local and internet stored images.

Justin Rupp That’s great. I guess I need to be careful what I wish for. Is there a way to store images in a lower resolution to keep the layout files a manageable size. I don’t need to see every detail in the photos, just so they are recognizable.
